Learn from everything/everyone!
Learning is
in failure, learning is in victory, learning is in struggle, learning is in
everything and everywhere where we look. – Darshan Singh
You can learn
from every situation of life. You can learn from everyone and everything only
if there is an intention to learn. A person must remain a student all his/her
life. One must try to learn from different circumstances. When you learn, you
are always expanding your horizon and knowledge of this world. You also remain
humble and keen when you have the intention of learning.
You can learn so
much when you want to learn. It is all up to you whether you want to learn or
not. Some people just close their door of learning, so they don’t find anything
worth learning. They assume that they know everything and there is no
requirement of further learning. But this is the most common misconception that
many people live with. They just can’t get out of this bubble and remain in
this imaginary world. They have learning everywhere around them, but they still
can’t learn from their mistakes and failed attempts. The reason is very simple;
they have already made a mind that they know everything. So, there’s no way
that learning can creep into their mind. Their door of learning is closed
forever. These kinds of people can never improve themselves and unless one
improves thyself, one can’t achieve greatness.
Never consider a
kid less smart than you. You may learn a life changing lesson from a kid. Never
underestimate your juniors at work, they might have a better idea than you to
pursue a project. Never make the mistake of judging an old person’s knowledge,
he might be as advanced as you are. This is one of the biggest blunders that we
make. When we don’t have the intention of learning from people, we are not
receptive to their ideas and plans. They might have better ideas than you. And
if you are smart enough and know the secret of being an attentive learner, you
will probably never fail in life. Since you have so many ideas because you are
always open for any type of suggestions from people around you.
One of my uncles
is a district forum judge. One day I visited him at his office as he recently
recovered from Covid 19. That day he was looking in good shape and we chatted
for about an hour. I was about to leave but he insisted me to stay for longer
as he was enjoying the conversation and had stepped out of his home after a
long quarantine.
After a moment, a
complainant entered his room and appealed his grievance in front of him. My
uncle then called his two juniors to the room and took their suggestions
regarding the case and came to a conclusion after discussing with them. He
suggested the complainant to withdraw the case and file with fresh and solid
evidence as he felt the case was weak. The complainant than thanked him for the
advice and everyone left the room leaving just me and my uncle there.
Then I curiously
asked him why he called his juniors to discuss this complex matter and why he
kept on taking their opinions despite his 30-year long experience as judge. He
replied, “I knew what I had to tell the complainant, but I called my juniors to
just discuss the same matter so that I wouldn’t make any mistake by any chance.
And even if there is something that I missed, someone would definitely point
that out and then there would be more accuracy in my judgments.”
I was taken aback
and learned this wonderful thing and it also strengthen my belief in this very
same theory that we can learn so much from people around us. Whether they are
our juniors, or they are less experienced than us. We must always have this
intent of learning. This intent will reinforce your skills and will teach you
tremendous things in life.
A person learns till the last breath. Nevertheless, if a person claims that he doesn’t require any further knowledge to sustain then he/she is intellectually dead.
Love and power to
you
