Do one thing every day that scares you

Everyone has a
fear of something. Some people fear bankruptcy, some fear animals, some fear
failures, some fear people, some fear embarrassment and some fear enemies. Fear
is something that we all have, and no one can deny its existence in life.
The technical
definition of fear is ‘an unpleasant feeling triggered by the perception of
danger, real or imagined.’ So, you can clearly see that the fear also comes
from imaginary things and if you observe yourself, most of your fears are
self-made and illusionary. What if I reach late to the office? What if I am not
able to propose that girl on Sunday? What will happen if I don’t do my
homework? How will I manage the business all alone when my parents are not
there? How will I finish my work on time? Will I be able to become successful?
Will I have enough money when I am 40?
So, you can
clearly observe that most of our fears are not real and they come from
imagination. What champions do differently is that they don’t waste their time
in thinking about unnecessary things and they convert their worrying time into
work time. They don’t pay attention to these useless thoughts. Instead they
gear up themselves and work on their goals tirelessly.
There can be
genuine fears as well but generally those situations are out of our hands. If
someone is suffering from cancer, then the fear of death is honest. But can you
do something about that? No, but you can go through your treatment, hope for
the best and stay positive.
But the
self-created fears are the ones that you can easily avoid, or they’ll keep you
anxious all day. When you have too many self-created fears surrounding your
mind then you are always in doubt and suspicion. This kind of attitude is a
sure shot recipe of failure.
You’ve got to
buckle up and face your fears. The only way to get rid of fear is to act. If you
are fearing about a rejection from a girl then worrying about that is not a
solution. You just go out there and keep your proposal. Your chances of failing
and succeeding are 50:50, so why worry? You will either get her or not. As
simple as that. There is no big deal in this and fearing about this moment will
not take you anywhere. Don’t just think about it and be fearful in your mind,
just go out there and act.
When you act on
something then you chance to succeed increase than a person who hasn’t even tried
because of the fear of failure. You are always in the game when you make
efforts. If I ask for ten things without the fear of rejections, then applying probability
theory to it, I might at least get five things. But a person who doesn’t ask at
all is at zero. So, when you ask without the fear of rejection, you are always
at a better position than a person who didn’t try.
Do at least one
thing everyday that scares you. At least one thing that you don’t have the courage
to pursue. This activity will give you great courage and motivation to try out
new things in life. This activity will teach you so many things about life that
you can’t even imagine. It is all easy to read such things but acting on them
requires tremendous valor and discipline. You have millions of books out there
that teach you motivation and great things, but it is up to you to decide
whether you want to achieve that greatness or not? Always remember, you are the
most important factor in your success.
