Social Template

 

                  


Our society has been plagued by templates since the humans began to settle in groups. Templates change with time and it becomes our duty to follow those templates if we wish to thrive in society. These templates differ from country to country, region to region and culture to culture. These templates rule the life of people and they follow it blindly to impress others and flourish in civilizations.  

Society often set templates regarding education, partner, kids, and so on. They also fix a timeline to it whether getting married at 40 is good or not. Whether having kids at 50 is respectable or not. Whether studying at the age of 60 is acceptable or not. These templates are often wired in our brains by our parents and society. We always judge people and their choices based on these templates.

We have been following these templates knowingly or unknowingly. There may be some benefits and consequences as well, but the point is to question the existence of these templates. The templates that were introduced to us by our parents. The templates that we follow to influence the society. Most people don’t often challenge the customs, rituals and cultures that we are following. So, they end up following these formalities just to survive in the society and look to gain appreciation from their peers.

People often impose these templates on their kids and not let them grow in their lives. This is one of the silliest things that you can do to your kids and loved ones. Husbands impose templates on their wives. Elder siblings do it to their younger ones. This is meaningless and should not happen in society. Everyone is different and will not prosper in a set template. Everyone is unique in their talents and excel in their own paths and fields.

These templates about studying for a certain period of time, getting married at the right age, applying for a job, having kids and settling down are different for different people. We must not follow anyone or their timeline of life. You are different and everyone else is also different. So, it is necessary to have diversity in career choice, getting married, having kids and in every other aspect of life.

You can’t simply follow the templates of people and live your life. You’ve got to carve your own destiny, chose your own path and create your own identity.

                                   This is an activity that most millennial's lack these days. I am afraid that reading books will soon be a thing of the past. Books are your real friends. When you need inspiration, you can grab a book and read it. You learn greatly through books. I remember that I was never a good reader. I would read occasionally but in 2015 I got my hand on a book ‘Long walk to freedom’ by Nelson Mandela.                                     Majority of people who fail in life are very good at making excuses. In your life you must be good in most of the things you do. But be a bad liar and dishonest in making excuses. People who find excuses to do certain things are enemies of their own. This also weakens the character of a person.
