Follow your Dreams
Follow your
dreams. This thing is easier said than done. Many people tell this to others
and a lot of people tell themselves but seldom do people really follow it. In
this society where we are told to live by the rules set by the society itself.
Here we are not allowed to think from our own perception. We are taught to
follow the advice of our parents in every aspect. We are deemed to be bad if we
take our own decisions and not follow the path that has been created by our
parents and society.
Such a pathetic
life it is when you don’t follow your dreams. Lucky are those people who are
following their dreams and are happy in what they do. We all go through that struggling
phase of life when we are stuck and don’t know which path to choose. At that
stage, two things happen. One is the path we chose that is designed by our
parents, society or latest trends. In that path, you don’t have the full
conviction, but you feel that trend is great, and I must take full advantage of
that. Or you are under extreme pressure of your parents to choose a certain
path. Or you merely follow what you think will be liked by the society. In
these types of choices, you are not choosing what you want. You are selecting
that path because your parents want you to do so or it is the requirement of
the society.
The other way is
to choose what you like keeping aside the fact that how much you are going to
earn in that career or how well you will do in life. In this choice you very
well know that you might not make it to the top, but you will remain happy with
what you do in life. The only objective of choosing this type of path is
fulfilling your dreams.
I was no
different than an average teenager when I dropped out of college and started
working. I earned a great deal of money in the field of engineering for the
first couple of years, but I was not feeling happy. I was only doing that thing
for money and there was nothing that was giving me satisfaction. So, I had to
make a very difficult decision to change my field and do something that I love.
I went to my
mother and told her about my situation. She smiled and had only few words for
me. But those few words changed my life forever and I started doing what I
like. I not only started what I liked but I gained success in that as well. Her
words were, “follow your dreams, don’t worry about what people have to say”.
These words wedged
into my mind and I still live my life on these terms.
Choosing a career
only for money or for the satisfaction of your parents is not worth it. You
might enjoy the first few years of it but later you are going to regret for the
time you have wasted. Everyone has their own journey. Find your destiny inside
you. Realize what is best for you, then make decision. Following your dreams
comes with a heavy tag price, that’s why not everyone can afford it.
